Pastors are those called by Christ and the local congregation to teach, shepherd, and care for his people in the local church (2 Tim. 2:2, Eph. 4:11-12). In the New Testament, this office is referred to interchangeably with the terms pastor, elder, overseer, and shepherd (Acts 20:17, 27-28).
Mark Carrington | Lead pastor
Mark has served WRBC as Lead Pastor since the summer of 2017. Mark grew up thinking he was a good kid and that there were many paths to God. While in high school friends witnessed to him and he began to read the Bible. When he was 16 the Lord opened His eyes to the sinful condition of his own heart and the holiness and glory of Jesus Christ and he believed the gospel. While in college he grew through Providence Baptist Church in Raleigh and the ministry of Campus Crusade for Christ. Mark has degrees from N.C. State University (BA) and Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary (MDiv). He and his wife Katie have five kids. The Carringtons have lived in Raleigh, NC, Washington DC, Turkey, and Georgetown, Ontario.
Matt Obenhaus | Pastor
Matt serves our church as a non-staff pastor. He is husband to Rachel and together they have four children. Matt was born in the small Texas Panhandle town of Tulia and was raised mostly in Lubbock, Texas. By God’s grace, Matt heard and believed the gospel at a summer camp just before 6th grade. Matt attended Texas A&M, served 4 years as an Air Defense Artillery Officer in the Army, and graduated from the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth. Matt came to Kansas City in 2011 and works for Cerner Corporation, a healthcare information technology firm, as a Product General Manager. In his free time, Matt enjoy studying world history, Russian literature, economics, philosophy, and geopolitics.
ADAm HERMANN | Pastor
Adam serves our church as a non-staff pastor. He is married to Liz and they are blessed with three children -- Elise, David, and Jacob. He became a Christian as a 21-year old in college. God used many different people and circumstances to rescue Adam, including the faithful witness of family members and a group of Christian college guys who lovingly reached out to a lost sinner and pointed him to Jesus Christ. Adam works as an attorney for the Federal Government.
Nathan sanderse | Pastor
Nathan serves at Wornall as a lay elder and is married to Amanda. They have one daughter. Nathan grew up in Canada, but has lived in Kansas City since 2011. Nathan came to faith in Christ during college after presuming a saving faith for many years before. Through a number of people in his life at the time, he was confronted with the duplicity in his life – and became a Christian so that “Jesus Christ might display his perfect patience” (1 Tim. 1:16). He has joyfully seen Wornall grow through the years and has been blessed by the faithful preaching of God’s Word. He is a physician at a local hospital and when not at work, enjoys spending time with people, writing haiku poetry, and playing Lego with his daughter.
COLBY WILKINS | Associate pastor
Colby has served our church as an associate pastor since September 2018. He and his wife Kathryn have two kids. He first came to know Christ through a summer camp ministry in Colorado at the age of 6. Colby is a graduate of Reformed Theological Seminary (MDiv) and Covenant College (BA, Philosophy). Previously, he has served as a youth director at Orlando Grace Church (Orlando, FL), a pastoral intern at Capitol Hill Baptist Church (Washington, DC), and a pastoral assistant at High Pointe Baptist Church (Austin, TX).
Mike Dixon | Pastoral Intern
Mike serves our church as a Pastoral Intern. He is husband to Gabriela. He first came to know Christ through a summer camp ministry in Arkansas at the age of 12. He is a student at Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary (MDiv) and a graduate of Williams Baptist University (BA, Biblical Theology). Previously, he has served in churches in the Northeast Arkansas region.

Kie Jones | Pastoral Intern
A native Texan, Kie serves at Wornall as a Pastoral Intern. By God’s grace, Kie grew up in a Christian home and became a Christian at age 7 when he was converted in the car on the way to speech class. Kie is a graduate of McMurry University (BBA) and is currently pursuing a Master of Divinity degree at Midwestern Seminary. In his free time, Kie enjoys reading, exploring the many coffee shops the city has to offer, and staying active through outdoor activities and sports. Before moving to KC, Kie served in churches in Abilene and Georgetown, Texas.
