Emily Harstine serves as the Administrative Assistant. She is married to Ben, and their son John was born in December, 2017. Emily grew up in Soldier, Kansas, and has been in Kansas City since July 2017. During her free time, Emily enjoys pursuing interests in music, culture, and reading.
Emily came to know Christ through the testimony of the church she grew up in. After deciding to follow Jesus at the age of nine, her decision was put to the test through many experiences in high school, college, and afterwards, and Jesus (to this day) continues to prove Himself faithful and worthy of following.
John Scheller serves as a pastoral intern. He is married to RoseAnn, and they are the parents of one son, who precedes them in heaven. John grew up in Cincinnati, Ohio, and has lived in Kansas City since 2015. Along with pursuing a Masters of Divinity, he works as an employee benefits broker, as well as enjoys hiking, traveling, and landscaping with his wife.
John came to faith when he was 24 after attending a Baptist church in Cincinnati. After many conversations and debates with the senior pastor, John overcame his biggest barrier in accepting Christ, which was the fear that none of it was real. John accepted the Bible as truth, was convicted of his sins and the need for forgiveness through Jesus Christ, with the result of being baptized.
Sarah Busenitz serves as the Children’s Ministry Coordinator. She is married to Brett, and they have two children with another on the way! Sarah grew up in Manhattan, Kansas, but has been in Kansas City for 25 years. When she’s not doing art projects or going on family adventures with her kids, you will probably find her digging into a good book, a good cup of coffee, or on a thrift store/garage sale treasure hunt!
Through the roots of a strong Christian heritage, Sarah came to faith in Kindergarten. Her walk with Jesus became more personal and precious to her during her teenage years, as she learned more about God’s amazing grace and her great need of it. The more God helps her grow spiritually, the more she’s humbled by the undeserved gift of salvation she’s received, and while she prays that her life will reflect the joy and gratitude for what Christ has done for her, she’s daily reminded that she needs him every hour. She believes that it is an awesome privilege to be able to participate in sharing the gospel with the children of Wornall Road. Their perspectives refresh her and their sense of wonder enriches her own faith.
