God made the world, and He lovingly rules over it. God is eternal, and eternally self-existent, meaning he does not depend on anyone or anything outside himself in order to sustain. He is all-powerful, all-knowing, and ever-present. He is holy, meaning he is completely different from us, and cannot even be understood in human terms.

God made us, men and women, in His image, and made us rulers of the world underneath His good authority. However, we reject His authority by choosing to live without him, and try to make ourselves our own rulers. This rebellion is called sin, and it has consequences—mainly that we will die separate from God and remain separate from Him forever (Romans 3:23).

However, because of His love, God sent Jesus into the world. Jesus is God, and when he lived on Earth, he lived perfectly under God’s authority. This means that he didn’t deserve to die; however, he chose to die in our place, that God might show forgiveness to us (2 Corinthians 5:21). Three days after he died, God raised him from the dead, to prove his power over sin and death.

If anyone turns away from their sin and their attempt to rule over their own life, and instead recognizes Jesus as Lord over their life, they can be restored to a right relationship with God, and receive everlasting life through the same power by which Jesus was raised from the dead (Romans 10:9-10).
