Hospitality Groups

What is a hospitality group?

A Hospitality Group offers a chance to enjoy fellowship, discussion, and prayer for a set period of time.

What are Hospitality groups for?

Hospitality Groups are intended to deepen existing relationships and make new ones among members of our church. Hospitality Groups provide an outlet for members to have a group of people they can spend time with, talk about life matters, and pray together. It differs from a Growth Group in that it does not go through a book and the focus of the group is not necessarily theological or biblical discussion. Despite the risk of oversimplifying, think of Hospitality Groups as more of “fellowship groups,” whereas Growth Groups are “study groups.”

WHO CAN BE A Hospitality GROUP LEADER?

Only members of Wornall Road Baptist Church may be a Hospitality Group Leader.

WHO CAN COME TO MY HOSPITALITY GROUP?

Unless the group is limited intentionally (men, women, teens, etc.), all members of WRBC and/or those interested in joining WRBC in membership are welcome to attend.

HOW MANY MEETINGS MAY THERE BE?

There may be about 8 meetings spaced out over four months. We recommend doing a meeting every two weeks. The group may elect to continue for another four months. If so, please let either Quinn or Philip know (emails below). The group should stick to a schedule of four-month increments. This allows people to onboard and offboard when desired, as well as provide overall shape to the group.

  • January – April

  • May – August

  • September – December

Growth Groups

What is a growth group?

A Growth Group is a chance to get together with other members for a time of intentional theological and/or biblical study through a book or the Bible.

What are growth groups for?

Growth Groups are intended to provide a space for members to deepen their understanding of a particular topic, life situation, and/or the Bible with others in the church. It differs from a Hospitality Group in that its main aim is to study and discuss theology and the Bible to grow in understanding. Despite the risk of oversimplifying, think of Growth Groups as more of “study groups,” whereas Hospitality Groups are “fellowship groups.”

WHO CAN BE A GROWTH GROUP LEADER?

Only members of Wornall Road Baptist Church may be a Growth Group Leader. If a group is mixed (men and women), only men are allowed to be Growth Group leaders.

WHO CAN COME TO MY GROWTH GROUP?

WRBC members or those interested in joining our church. If a visitor is not interested in joining our church but wants to attend, please ask an elder.

HOW MANY MEETINGS MAY THERE BE?

The number of meetings is at the discretion of the Growth Group leader. There should be more than 2 meetings, but no more than 7 meetings. For reasons of sustainability, a good time frame is 4 months.
